                Ayah, Mengapa Aku Berbeda?  is a drama movie which adaptation from a popular novel by Agnes Danovar who has the same title with the movie. Before a novel by Agnes Danovar also ever made be a movie, the title is Surat Kecil Untuk Tuhan. But, different with Surat Kecil Untuk Tuhan, in Ayah, Mengapa Aku Berbeda? the plot is tidier than Surat Kecill Untuk Tuhan. This film is directed by Findo Purnomo HW  and starring by Dinda Hauwn, Surya Saputra, Rima Melati, Indra Sinaga, and many more. The story of Ayah, Mengapa Aku Berbeda? Tell about struggling life of a deaf girl who always optimist and think that she is not different with the normal girl. It’s normal when she think like that, because she had a talent where she can play piano better than her friends.

                Ayah, Mengapa Aku Berbeda? Tell about the struggling life of Angel (Dinda Hauwn) who born as a deaf girl. Her mother death when Angel born. And Suryo (Surya Saputra), his father feel so sad and lonely because of this accident. Angel live with her father and also her grandmother (Rima Melati). Although she was born as a deaf girl, but she grow become a beauty, smart, and talented girl. Maybe she was born as a deaf girl, but she had a good talent as a pianist even better than her normal friends. In her special school, she never feels different with other. She always gets support from her father and her grandmother.

And then the committee of her school suggest to her father for move to Jakarta and send Angel to a regular school, because Angel have a good talent. And her father decided to send Angel to regular school, because he optimist that Angel is smarter more than he think. And here she started the different. In her old school, she gets the same treatment with her friends, but in her new school it’s so different. Even Maya (Kiki Azhari), her classmates always boo her. But, in her class she meet with Hendra who will be her best friend, not only best friend she also meet Martin (Fendy Chow) a boy that Maya loves. And no one know that Martin give more his attention to Angel.

The happiest moment for Angel is when her music teacher known the talent of Angel when she play piano. And then, her teacher invites Angel to join with music group in her school. Unfortunately, Maya also join with the music group. Maya doesn’t like if Angel also join with the group, so Maya always make Angel feel weak. Even sometime Maya torture Angel.

What have Maya done to Angel make Suryo so angry, when Suryo angry he get heart attack. Her father had to get therapy for his heart.  When Angel feels that her money is not enough for the therapy for her father, Angel decide to be a pianist in a café. Here, she starts her love story with Ferly (Indra Sinaga) the employer of this café. Ferly accept the minus of Angel as the excess, so easily they can get same feeling each other.

One day, Angel wins the selection to perform as a pianist in a competition. Unfortunately, in the day when she had to perform her father get heart attack. Angel confused, is she have to come to the TV channel or stay at hospital to accompany her father. But, her father direct Angel to come to the competition to perform. But, it’s not easy as she think to come and perform there. Before her performance, Maya come and hurry Angel again. Even Maya destroy her makeup, dress, and everything which Angel wears. Finally, Angel wins the competition as the best pianist.

But, her happiness isn’t going along way. A few times after she won the competition, her father was death because his getting heart attack. Angel lives with her grandmother. Her sadness not enough until there, when she finish her education in senior high school sorrow come back to her life. Her beloved boyfriend, Ferly was death because a motorcycle accident. When the people that she loves start to leave Angel, she almost gives up. But Angel always tries to hold out with all her condition.

 Several viewer of the movie said that the story of Angel’s life is so touching heart, even the story could make them cried. Allan Darmawan (Head of Marketing Management Allianz Indonesia) appraise that the movie teach people about the spirit of life. Everyone must have the spirit of life, although we have many minus of our selves. Allan Darmawan also said, “The movie shows us how the character of Angel whom was born as a deaf girl also has a big spirit for her life and her dreams. So we as a normal people also have to a big spirit like her. The movies also teach the children that they must give appreciate to each other.”

Honestly, the plot of  Ayah, Mengapa Aku Berbeda? is too weak for us to always follow the plot. The story of this movie is look like too for make the story become melancholies in every moment. At the end of this movie is too dramatic, because where the main character that should get her happiness, suddenly must get her sadness again. The dramatic at the end of the movie look like just for show to the audience that one supporting character when at the firs story just as unimportant character became an important character of the movie.

 Although most of the story of the movie full with cry scene, it’s not mean that Ayah, Mengapa Aku Berbeda? become a movie which just buy the suffering of the main character. These movies teach us about the struggle of life, and don’t be hopeless or give up to all condition that we have. Because behind our entire minus, there is a excess in our selves. So, you should watch this movie so that you can give appreciate to other. And the last one, we have a tips if you want to watch this movie. Please PREPARE much TISSUE, because we sure that you would always cry because watch this movie. J
